Hoopoe in Glos! (and a Spoonbill in Dorset)

10 May - a visit to Cotswold Edge Golf Club, near Wotton-under-Edge, eventually revealed the Hoopoe sheltering and feeding under a shelter belt of pines near the clubhouse, during rather inclement weather. It has been present for several days.

7 May - a visit to the hide at Middlebere in Poole Harbour gave nice views of the first-summer Spoonbill still present.

Nagshead and the Forest

3 May - In the Forest of Dean, 2 Wood Warblers, several Pied Flycatchers and a female Redstart on the long trail at Nagshead reserve. A singing Tree Pipit near Cannop Ponds.

Easterlies at CWP and Frampton

29 April - easterly winds, 3 Black Terns and an adult Little Gull at CWP 16.

29 April - on the high tide at Fretherne - an Avocet and 160 Bar-tailed Godwits, some in splendid summer plumage, along with 3 Knot, a Grey Plover and a few Whimbrel. Also a Greenshank on Saul flashes, a Hobby over, and 4 of the Ibis flock.

Glos rarities!

21 April - an amazing flock of 17 Glossy Ibis arrived at Frampton last night, still present today, though could be elusive in the vegetation.
Also a Stone Curlew at Cleeve Hill, a mega for Glos.

CWP Swillbrook

15 April - Nightingales back at Swillbrook, pits 46/48. Vocal day and night at first, also fairly easy to see before all the leaves are out. At least 6 males.

19 April - Sedge, Reed and Cetti's Warblers in good voice at pit 6.

CWP

31 March - First LRP of the year seen, subsequently fairly widespread with up to 6 at pits 82/83.
