Slimbridge revisited
9 Aug - A couple of hours at Slimbridge, the adult Spoonbill still in residence on South Lake where it is spending the summer (1-3)....a good selection of waders on the reserve including a smart juvenile Wood Sandpiper (4) on the Tack Piece with a Common (5-6) and 4-5 Green Sandpipers, 3 Greenshank from the Zeiss Hide (and another Green Sand), and also on South Lake a flock of at least 150 Black-tailed Godwits at various stages of moult from summer plumage (7-10), with 120+ Lapwings, 50+ Redshank, a Ruff and a Common Sandpiper. A Kingfisher flew over here, also 2 Common Terns. Photos JM.
