Pit 43

17 April - A half hour before work, another fine sunny morning, my first 2 Cuckoos of the year singing, one seen in flight, and 2 Grasshopper Warblers and 2 Whitethroats now arrived and singing actively. Also a Lesser Whitethroat, 4 Sedge Warblers (1-4), 2 Cetti's, 2 Garden and 5 Willow Warblers, 3 Chiffchaffs and 5 Blackcaps (5). No Nightingales heard but 9 Warbler species before work! Photos JM.
