Shorncote

9 Jan - A quick walk at Shorncote, fairly quiet, but the pits now partly unfrozen so some duck have returned - 80+ Teal, 3 Shoveler and 4 Gadwall. A female Sparrowhawk was seen briefly, and 5 Reed Buntings and 2 Grey Wagtails were around the reedbeds. Around 40 Lapwings flew over in total, together with large flocks of Fieldfares totalling several hundred. No sign of the Kumlien's Gull at pit 16 in the roost prior to dusk.
