Slimbridge

8 Jan - An afternoon visit to Slimbridge and the female Lesser Scaup and the 2 Greater Scaups all on the Rushy Pen, also good numbers of duck especially Pintail. The Bewick's Swans and Greylags were joined by the Pink-footed Goose at the 4pm feed. On the reserve, large flocks of Lapwings have returned with the milder weather and a few Golden Plover were also present, together with 200+ Dunlin, 5 Ruff, 40+ Curlew and a Redshank. A Peregrine was out on the Dumbles. A redhead Smew was on South Lake. A Snipe gave good views in front of the Martin Smith hide. Photos of Bewick's Swans by JM.
