Shorncote evening

9 Jan - A late afternoon hour at Shorncote after work, and the path now deeply flooded with the water having risen. Productive bird-wise, with a Green Sandpiper and a female Stonechat (6-8) being noteworthy - also seen - Snipe, 30 Lapwing, 5 Little Egrets (5), 2 Water Rails seen and 6 heard, 2-3 Cetti's Warblers calling, a Little Grebe (rare at Shorncote), a Raven, 40 Redwing, 70 Fieldfare, 11 Reed Buntings, 25 Meadow Pipits, 5 Yellowhammers, 30 Linnets and a Chiffchaff. I stayed until almost dark and no sign of the Barn Owl. Photos JM.
