Shorncote pre-work.......

Jan 5 - As I am now semi-retired (I wish!) I had time for a pre-work photo trip to Shorncote - a calm day, and some stormy weather forecast later in the week. Very good views of the Siberian Chiffchaff, with several Common Chiffchaffs. Also, finally, a Cetti's Warbler popped up for the camera......first time in years of waiting. A Little Owl was in the willow tree by South Cerney playing field, as reported yesterday, and feeding in the adjacent paddock were 5 species of Thrush - Song and Mistle Thrush, Redwing, Fieldfare and Blackbird. 2 Grey Wagtail fed by the stream, and the female Stonechat fed along the fenceline. Wetland birds included good numbers of Teal, half a dozen Shoveler, a drake Pintail, several Water Rails, 4 Little Egrets, a large flock of 280+ Lapwing, and a calling Green Sandpiper. 2015 year list now 97. Photos to follow.
