Ferruginous Duck at Lydiard Park.....and a Long-tailed Duck at Dudgrove.
1 April - Excellent views of the drake Ferruginous Duck at Lydiard Park this morning, it appeared fairly wary, diving and keeping its distance, within the resident flock of Tufted Ducks. Photos JM.
Late afternoon I received a message that a drake Long-tailed Duck was at Dudgrove pit 114 in the eastern section of CWP, and had good scope views after some searching for the bird as it was diving actively. it appeared to be a first-year male with a bicoloured bill, white//black head/neck and some white scapulars. Also at Dudgrove - 5 Red-crested Pochards and 50+ Sand Martins.
