Montagu's Harrier.....
4 May - An after-work visit to a downland area was rewarded with a good scope view of a male Montagu's Harrier, in the same area as last year (when I took this photo). It flew across the road then away out of sight over the cereal fields - buoyant flight, diagnostic grey plumage with wing bars and narrow white rump seen well. Also a Yellow Wagtail flew over.
En route home CWP pit 301 produced a Common Sandpiper (and a LRP) - pit 74 an Oystercatcher - and pit 83 8 Whimbrel and 4 Curlew in the usual field.
