More migrants arriving.....
15 April - An hour at CWP early morning, a lovely cool still day, good numbers of migrant songbirds arriving, including the first Nightingale of the season at pit 43, together with the first Garden Warbler there - along with a Cetti's Warbler, 3 Sedge Warblers (4-6), Blackcaps (3), Willow Warblers (1,2) and Chiffchaffs. At 68d reedbed, the first 2 Reed Warblers of the season, also more Sedge Warblers and Cetti's, another Garden Warbler, and a distant Lesser Whitethroat in song. Grasshopper Warbler reeling at Knighton after work gave a total of 9 Warbler species for the day.....no Whitethroat! Also up to 10 Reed Buntings (fem,7), a pair of Yellowhammers and 10+ Linnets at pit 43..
A pair of displaying Red Kites were over the A419 at Blunsdon late morning, with another over Lawn this evening.
